Shashti holds importance as the sixth day of the lunar fortnight and is associated with the goddess Shashthi. It’s a day of worship, particularly on the sixth day after childbirth, to protect the newborn. This practice is believed to ward off diseases and ensure the baby’s well-being, according to the Yajnavalkya Smriti.
